The Irish Famine Tour

Irish Montreal Excursions is pleased to offer a walking tour that visits key sites in Montreal where the Irish Famine in 1847 unfolded. Set the day before the annual Walk to the Stone, a pilgrimage arranged by the Ancient Order of Hibernians to Montreal's Famine Cemetery on Bridge Street, this walking tour visits key sites associated with this tragedy, such as fever sheds, burial grounds and hospitals.

Led by professional actor, history teacher and tour guide Donovan King, The Irish Famine in Montreal Walking Tour reveals forgotten history in the city and supports efforts by the Irish Monument Park Foundation to establish a commemorative park on the gravesite of over 6000 Irish Famine refugees.
