Irish Famine in Montreal Walking Tour 

Learn about Black ’47, the year 75,000 Irish refugees fleeing the Famine landed on Montreal’s wharves. The tour visits key sites associated with this tragedy, such as the locations of fever sheds, burial grounds and hospitals, providing in-depth history about the Irish Famine's impact on Montreal in 1847. Led by professional actor, history teacher and tour guide Donovan King, the Irish Famine in Montreal Walking Tour also supports efforts by the Irish Monument Park Foundation to establish a commemorative park on the gravesite of over 6000 Irish Famine refugees.

Where: This excursions starts in front of Pointe-à-Callière Museum (350 Place Royale) and ends at the Black Rock on Bridge Street

Duration: Approximately 2 hours

Irish History in Montreal Walking Tour 

Explore the history of the Irish in Montreal! Led by professional actor, history teacher and tour guide Donovan King, this walking tour visits historic Irish sites, including churches, watering-holes, newspaper offices, the ruins of a refuge and forgotten areas like Little Dublin and Paper Hill. Many of Montreal's more interesting Irish characters throughout history will be highlighted and the Bloomsday connection between James Joyce's Ulysses and Montreal will also be revealed!

Where: This excursion starts in front of Old Dublin Pub (636 Cathcart Street) and ends at Notre-Dame-de-Bonsecours Church (400 St Paul Street E.)
